Our Stability In A Shakey World--Estera Marian

Knowing where to turn.

2020 was a hard year for all of us in so many ways. The pandemic is something we never anticipated and the events that are unfolding before our eyes to this day are simply shocking. As we begin 2021, we can’t help but wonder what this year will have in store for us. How we wish we could have left the pandemic behind with the close of 2020 and forget all about it but we are still in the thick of it. The world is still spinning out of control and it doesn’t seem to get any better. Are our lives at the mercy of governments and regulations? How are we to look ahead during such uncertain times?

While the world is on shaky ground, we as Christians are called to understand that our hope in God is still secure. Though circumstances change around us, He remains the same. He is our stability, no matter the circumstances that surround us because He is sovereign. I know it doesn’t always look this way but we need to remind ourselves of this truth again and again. In Him there is an ever-flowing supply of hope that never runs out but we need to attune our ears to His voice and to mute the overpowering voice of the media that screams to us constantly.

God is still in control. As we look to Him only, our hearts will be filled with confidence because He has the final say in everything on earth and in heaven. Though this virus has devastated the whole world, stealing so many lives in its path, there is one greater- Jesus Christ! He promises to be with us through it all until the very end. Isaiah 43:2 (esv) says, When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. Take heart this year knowing that whatever lies ahead, you will not be overwhelmed because God will bring you through!
