Do You Let Your Soul Breathe?-- Estera Marian

Prayer is oxygen for the soul.

Try holding your breath for a minute. How do you feel after that? Keep in mind that was only one minute, now imagine how your soul feels since the last time you prayed. People tend to think that they only need to pray when they are in desperate need of help. So they come to God one time a year, hoping He will listen to them right away, and if He doesn’t; then God doesn’t exist or He just doesn’t care. I used to be one of those people, dragging my dead soul with me and constantly wondering why I felt the way I did. I felt dead inside, and no matter what I tried in order to come alive, it didn’t help at all. Trust me; I’ve tried, have you? The problem is that we look for life in all the wrong places. Instead of going to the One who gave us life in the first place, we accept the lies that tell us we can only find what we’re looking for somewhere else. You might think you feel alive for a while, but sooner or later every false source of help will end; they are all only temporary reliefs. Praying does not necessarily mean begging God to help us; it rather means talking to God, and ultimately, it means letting your soul breathe. You should try it.
